Dear Friends,

This year co-organizers Nichy and Lisa Vegas and the entire danceSPORT team would like to invite you to the 10th Annual Great Race danceSPORT, benefiting local literacy programs. Our goal is to host an event that is not only a lot of fun but will provide an avenue for the finest competition in PRO/AM, AMATEUR, and PROFESSIONAL Ballroom Dancing.

The University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana is our location, and the Joyce Center again this year is our venue! Keeping our promise to the amateur dancer, we have kept weekend packages affordable. A Special group rate for our out of town dancers has again been negotiated with a nearby hotel, The Comfort Suites!

Teachers and professional competitors will compete for larger top level and professional purses. Students will be able to compete for closed bronze and silver scholarships in all four divisions. All competitors will experience the excitement of dancing in the Joyce Center in the heart of the Notre Dame Campus. The exclusive Top Student awards will make your students feel as special as they are and set the tone for new goals and higher standards in their dancing.

Our Saturday evening professional show by the US representatives to the World Showdance Competition and International Standard Champions, Garry and Rita Gehkman, is sure to thrill every dance enthusiast!

The Great Race is proud to be a member of the World Pro Am Dance Sport Series. Our competition is a Region 4 Event in 2008, and as such we will be running Dance Sport Series Qualifying Events throughout the weekend. These prestigious events can qualify Pro/Am couples for the National Team Match to be held in November 2008 at the Ohio Star Ball in Columbus, Ohio.
